This summer, experience Villars-sur-Ollon like a real villardou
Want to get the full Villars-sur-Ollon experience this summer? Then follow the advice of a true Villars-sur-Ollon aficionado! This authentic Villardou reveals the secrets of our region, sharing with you her favorite places to relax, showing you where she prefers to have a drink at sunset with her friends and motivating you to get your heart rate up during your stay with us!
Hello ! My name is Joséphine Loiret-Bernal and I'm doing a 6-month internship at Chalet RoyAlp Hôtel & Spa. I've been living in Villars-sur-Ollon for eight years and would like to share my enthusiasm for this charming mountain village with you!
Le Golf
Would you like to spend your day playing the 18 holes at Villars Golf Club? Or perhaps you'd simply like to practice on the driving range? With its breathtaking views, its picturesque course will delight you. I'm a fan. You won't be disappointed by the high-altitude restaurant either. Either way, you'll be satisfied. Personally, I like to go there early in the morning when it's cool and I'm alone on top of the world to get my day off to a good start!
Mountain bike and E-bike
Soak up the nature that surrounds us on two wheels. Our region is ideal for cycling fans and those who like speed and thrills. Mountain bikes, E-bikes, fat bikes and scooters are all available for hire in Villars-sur-Ollon. Make your own way or follow a professional guide to explore places you couldn't find on your own. You're likely to come across other locals along the way, as exploring our region in this way is a popular way to spend the warmer weather.
Tennis
Whether it's to play with friends, family or for a lesson with a pro, I play tennis every week at Villars, surrounded by mountains, with its 3 indoor and 3 outdoor clay courts. Please note that the courts must be reserved.
Hiking and more at Lac des Chavonnes
If you want to hike in a mountainous setting, take the time to explore Lac des Chavonnes! In summer, the Lac des Chavonnes remains a popular spot, combining scenic beauty with fine dining. Many families take the train to Bretaye, hike around Lac de Chavonnes and the surrounding area, swim, fish or canoe on the lake. Take your picnic and find your own spot to enjoy nature, or have lunch on the sunny terrace of the Restaurant du Lac des Chavonnes. You're sure to meet goats and cows along the way, but keep an eye out for ibex and chamois!
Ollon Winegrowers' Tour
Vineyards are another jewel in the crown of our region. In Ollon, you can take a picturesque walk through the various vineyards while a professional guide explains how wine is made. You'll also be invited to taste Ollon's delicious wines. A unique experience for bon vivants!
Paragliding
Looking for adrenalin? Immerse yourself in the region's landscapes, commune with nature, create unforgettable memories and literally leap out of your comfort zone.
The Salt Mines of Bex
If the weather doesn't cooperate, you might prefer to visit the Bex Salt Mines. At 25 minutes by car, get on a real miner's train and travel 500 meters on the historical traces of the miners between the 17th and the 21st century. This journey through time and endless tunnels dug beneath the mountains will fascinate your intellectual side and take you into another world. On this not-to-be-missed guided tour, you'll learn about salt mining and the various mining galleries. It's a great way to learn more about the beautiful region you're visiting. Don't forget to book in advance.
The Spa
The Spa du RoyAlp offers luxury and serenity to its guests. In addition to a moment of relaxation between the sauna, the hammam, the jacuzzi, the swimming pool and the private spa, the spa offers very high quality treatments with exclusive products that will regenerate you and help you leave in a serene state of mind. From my very first massage, I couldn't stop coming back for more. The masseuse listened and responded to my every need, giving me a made-to-measure massage like I'd never had before. Once my massage was over, I rested in the pool area and finished with a steam room followed by a crushed ice treatment on my face and body. A true Nordic experience!
BeAr's Bar
My "go to" is BeAr's Bar, with its intimate indoor space and outdoor terrace offering breathtaking mountain views. For a business meal or with friends, a break in the sun with a good book, or a romantic cocktail at sunset, BeAr's Bar offers a wide selection of alcoholic drinks and a list of unique non-alcoholic cocktails. Feeling hungry? BeAr's Bar also offers an extensive food menu! From burgers, sandwiches and salads to full dishes and, best of all, caviar to accompany a flute of Roederer bubbles. My personal favorite is the Classic Club!
